my most recent acquisition… i’m thinking they’ll be fun paired with sheer socks!
reblogging so i can better keep track of it when it hopefully goes on sale! they’re pretty similar to these prada suede sandals except x1000 cheaper, haha. a little bit of the charm is lost since these don’t have the gold trimmings that the prada ones do, but still, so good!!
tom tom club - genius of love
i thrifted this cat sweater during xmas break in SF for a cool $5, and i adore it, but it’s never really fit me right. i guess i DID get it from the children’s section, but still… maybe it’ll find it’s way in my garage sale shop soon.
commander’s palace is just WOW. seriously, everything was amazing. highlight of the meal was the turtle soup with sherry and this delightful bread pudding souffle with whiskey sauce! seriously, forget beignets, the dessert you wanna try in nola is THIS.
1/4 of a muffaletta, a sicilian sandwich originating from nola!!!! soooooo yuuuummm, pretty much one of the best things we ate and considering all the explosively amazing food down south, that’s saying a lot!
charbroiled oysters, holy fuck!!!!
home of the most luscious roast beef sandwiches in the world
i never met a lobster i didn’t like
my family has had dogs for as long as i can remember. we inherited our first dog Lucky, a cocker spaniel, from a family member who couldn’t take care of him anymore. i was terrified of it. i’m not sure why, he had cute curly hair and big brown eyes. i wish i could have played with him more. he died when i was in eighth grade. the way his sleeping body stayed perfectly stiff from rigor mortis was so shocking to me. although i found out he was dead in the morning, i burst into tears in the classroom later that day. i had/have the tendency to misplace things, and in that cruel, ignorant way children do, in the lunchroom a friend chuckled (!) while saying to me, “you seem to be losing a lot of things lately.”
our secondary family pets were the fish. it seems like so long ago when our backyard was still flat and completely grassy, and i hardly remember it, but i guess that was over a decade ago. at some point, my parents did a complete overhaul of the backyard and had a cement patio installed and a garden planted, and some guys came and dug out holes in the ground for the swimming pool and the pond. this doesn’t exist anymore due to its high maintenance, but there was also a cool little ‘river’ that wound around the hill to the pond in a tiny waterfall.
my dad is a quiet man who gets excited over few things, and he loved his pond. the garden and the fish were his pet projects… no pun intended. it seemed like every other weekend, he would take me and my brother to the surprisingly many koi breeders in the area to look at the latest fish supplies and newborn guppies. i’ve seen a lot of average koi displayed in public ponds and in front of chinese restaurants, but they really don’t compare to the koi from my childhood. some were pure white like snow, others speckled like calico cats, and some had scales that shimmered like the holographic foil stickers. i really liked those shiny ones. after we picked out our fish and dad paid for them, my brother and i would tenderly hold them in their double wrapped plastic bags in our laps and think of good names during the ride home.
